blogging lightly around the issue of today's date

today is the five year anniversary of september 11. the world is remembering.. and rightly so most people would be sad today. but im really not good with sad days..

luckily as i opened my day book for my morning dosage of inspiration, the following verse sat wisely beneath today's date:

Should differences arise amongst you over any matter, refer it to God while the Sun still shineth above the horizon of this Heaven and, when it hath set, refer ye to whatsoever hath been sent down by Him. This, verily, is sufficient unto the peoples of the world.

Baha'u'llah

wow, i think. so, as i refer to what hath been sent down by Him, one piece of wisdom that stands out is:

Grief and sorrow do not come to us by chance; they are sent by the Divine Mercy for our perfecting.

'Abdu'l-Baha

the way i see it is that the way forward is to focus on perfecting humanity. through love, obedience, service and all those good things.. and today wont have to be so painful after all.
