I was a practicing solicitor, and yet I felt I hadn't found my career path. It was time to put two and two together. So. I quit the city job, hung up my suits, had one long last gaze at the glorious Sydney skyline, and never looked back. And here I am. Living in Cairo. Student at the AUC, enrolled in the two-year masters course of International and Comparative Law. Am I excited? UM NO! I'm terrified!

ok, totally not having a go at your word usage (which i'm sure was 100% intentional), but lately i've just been noticing how common it's getting to use BAD and INCORRECT english!!
since i'm learning a foreign language, i'm continually listening out for "mistakes" when people speak to me in german (or should i say, because i'm always listening carefully to how they talk using all the 1000 complicated grammatical rules correctly!) i've started listening more carefully in english too. and boy, are the results shocking!
like, since when did it become acceptable to say, "them days"?!! and do you notice how EVERYONE says "that was real good" or "real bad" etc? i know a lot of it comes from hip-hop music and african-american culture (sorry guys but it's true - and there are even anthropological studies on how there are actually linguistic rules about how to correctly speak INCORRECTLY!)
yada yada yada, i know. but seriously, i've been realising more and more how "english" as we know it (or how it's "supposed" to be) is quickly changing, and in 50 years or so, who knows what the language might look like! for instance, did you know that there are currently more people who speak english as a second (or third, or fourth) language than as a mother tongue? and think about how these speakers, when they have difficulties with certain grammar rules, like prepositions in english (eg. "for", "by", "at", etc), they often just translate it directly from their language into ours (for instance, in german they say someone is "on" the photo, instead of "in" the photo), and what sort of an influence these small things will have on english... so that maybe in the future, not too far from now, it will actually be CORRECT to say "on the photo" instead of "in" it!!
is this scary/weird for anyone apart from me?

agreed ith all the languge stuff, also in studying linguistics you see how english used to be back in the day- some words are not even recognisable now!
meanwhile speaking of speaking english as a 2nd language, in singapore they have ads on the street that say
"how more to raffles hotel?" (wrong)
"how much further to raffles hotel?" (correct)
be understood, speak good english, go to www...
