certitude [cer·ti·tude]

n.
1. The state of being certain; complete assurance; confidence.
2. Sureness of occurrence or result; inevitability.
3. Freedom from doubt.

certitude to me is a very rare thing indeed.

most of the time, things aren't black and white.

i've always viewed certitude as a type of luxury, something we all crave.

but what happens when you're trying to make a big decision, an exciting decision, where your heart is torn in two directions.. and both of the unique paths at the end of the fork in the road seem equally right. and then all of a sudden, in a sweeping act of inevitability, you're robbed of one of the alternatives. what remains? certitude.

and despite my original conceptions.. sometimes certitude hurts.
